Dr. Pamela Chan, the recipient of the honorary degree of Doctor of Social Sciences 2017 and donor of the University, was invited to deliver a lecture on “The Myths of Public Service & My Romantic Quest for 5 Decades” on 22 November 2017. During the lecture, Dr. Chan shared her fruitful experience of serving the social service sector, Hong Kong Consumer Council, and various capacities on boards and committees over the past 40-plus years. The lecture attracted a full house of over 140 guests, including faculty members, students, alumni and business leaders.

A number of HKBU Foundation Members and University supporters attended the seminar. They included Mrs. Doreen Chan; Ms. Iris Li, Representative of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation; Mrs. Mary Suen; Ms. Delia Chan; Dr. William Leung, SBS, JP; Mr. David Chow; Dr. Eric Li, GBS, OBE, JP and Mrs. Li; Mr. Tommy Li, BBS, MH, JP; Mr. William Chan, BBS, JP; Mr. Alex Leung; Mr. K.C. Chan, BBS; and Mrs. Raymond Leung. Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, and Mrs. Zina Chin; Mr. Andy Lee, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Professor Atara Sivan, Head of Department of Education Studies; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, also attended the lecture.
