The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Mr. David Chow Tak Fung, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, in early March 2018. He was 71 years old.

Mr. David Chow Tak Fung, Founder and Managing Director of Easy Power Limited, was a distinguished entrepreneur who had made significant contributions to the optical industry through his passion and visionary leadership. In 1980s, Mr. Chow offered technical support to local optical industries on the Mainland for the benefit of optical development. Since 2000, he had invented a number of new products through self-study and introduced the use of polyvinyl acetate for glasses. In 2008, Mr. Chow was conferred an Honorary Fellowship by the Professional Validation Council of Hong Kong Industries in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the optical industry.

Mr. Chow has also made tireless effort in the educational development in both Mainland China and Hong Kong. He donated generously for building schools in mountain regions of China, set up funds for education and provided support for higher education in Hong Kong. In 2016, Mr. Chow made generous donations for the establishment of the Mr. and Mrs. T. F. David Chow Local Students Bursary to support local HKBU students who have financial needs.

The Foundation conveys its deepest condolences to the Chow family at this time of bereavement. Mr. Chow will always be remembered for his unfailing support for the University.
