The Sun Museum, funded by the Simon Suen Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, is holding an exhibition entitled “Lingnan in Ink Mood: Collaborative Paintings by Jao Tsung-I and the Four Masters of the Lingnan School”. The exhibition features 40 collaborative paintings by Professor the Hon. Jao Tsung-I, GBM, together with four masters of the Lingnan School, Zhao Shaoang, Li Xiongcai, Guan Shanyue and Yang Shanshen. Collaborative painting requires the infusion of different styles of the participating artists.

The Opening Ceremony was held on 16 March 2018. Officiating guests included Mr. He Jing, Deputy Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR and General Director of its Kowloon Sub-Office; Professor Lee Chack Fan, GBS, JP, Director of Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole of The University of Hong Kong; Professor Albert S.C. Chan, JP, President Emeritus of HKBU; Dr. Tang Wai Hung, Deputy Director (Art) of Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole of The University of Hong Kong; Dr. Simon Suen, BBS, JP and Miss Chloe Suen, Founding Chairman and Chair of the Simon Suen Foundation respectively; and Mr. Yeung Chun Tong, Director of the Sun Museum. Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, and Dr. Zhu Mengwen, Postdoctoral Research Fellow of HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology, attended the ceremony on behalf of the University.

The exhibition aims to reveal the successful integration of Literati painting and the Lingnan School’s techniques by Professor Jao and Lingnan masters. They inspire excellent creativity and show good rapport among the five masters. The public can enjoy free admission by appointment and the exhibition will be held until 5 May 2018.
