The Sun Museum, funded by the Simon Suen Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, is holding an exhibition entitled “XU Beihong and His Times” which features a selection of 61 artworks by 33 artists. The exhibitions is jointly presented by the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Bauhinia Magazine and the Sun Museum, aiming to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the CAFA.

The Opening Ceremony was held on 25 October 2018. Officiating guests included Mr. Yang Jian, Deputy Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Mr. Jack Chan, Under Secretary for Home Affairs; Mr. Gao Hong, Chairman of the Academy Council of the CAFA; The Hon. Kenneth Lau Ip Keung, BBS, MH, JP, Member of the Legislative Council and Chairman of the Heung Yee Kuk N.T.; Mr. Jiang Zaizhong, President of Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group Limited; Dr. Sze Chi Ching, JP, President of the China Calligraphers Association (Hong Kong); Mr. Siu Fai Wing, Chairman of the Hong Kong Artists Association; Dr. Hoffman Ma Ho Man, BBS, Executive Chairman of the Hong Kong Culture Association; Mr. Yang Yong, President and Editor-in-chief of Bauhinia Magazine; Dr. Simon Suen, BBS, JP and Miss Chloe Suen, Founding Chairman and Chair respectively of the Simon Suen Foundation; and Mr. Yeung Chun Tong, Director of the Sun Museum. Professor Albert Chan, JP, President Emeritus of HKBU; Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; and Dr. Zhu Mengwen, Postdoctoral Research Fellow of the HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology, attended the ceremony on behalf of the University.

The exhibition traces the relations between Xu Beihong, the first President of CAFA, and some famous artists of the 20th century. Their artworks witness a significant era when Chinese art was on the road of modernisation. The public can enjoy free admission by appointment and the exhibition will be held until 1 December 2018.
